Non-metallic gaskets are made of composite materials such as glass fiber, mica board, ceramic fiber, elastic and fiber board, and compressed non-asbestos board. Compared with metallic gaskets, a major advantage of non-metallic gaskets is their excellent corrosion resistance. They can also be easily compressed under bolt load. However, this type of gasket cannot withstand extreme temperatures and pressures.
